Question—

How can we ensure that we recruit and encourage diverse business owners who can be leaders in the community, have a solid connection and history with the neighborhood and can also cater to multiple demographics? 

Goals—

Promote minority business owners with a connection to the community, who also want to provide jobs to the community, pioneer the hospitality concept and expose area residents and children to minority wealth building strategies and possibilities.

Our Approach—

• Food, art and music bring people together.  Encourage fast-casual concept with community relevance and mainstream appeal.

• We connected with Clint, Derrick & EJ who were looking to open their first restaurant, preferably in North Nashville.  We worked to connect them even further with the local residents and new businesses in the area.

Impacted Groups—

Existing residents, Slim & Husky’s restaurant , HBCU graduates & minority business owners.

Result—

Slim & Husky’s has built a wildly successful business right here in North Nashville and now throughout the country, all while servicing the needs of the community.  Furthermore, they are paving the way for other like-minded businesses to invest in our neighborhood, with meaningful intent.
